Protenga is an agri-tech startup Making Insects Work For A Better Food System. As our Project Engineer, you will take Smart Insect Farm projects from first concept or sales lead all the way to a commissioned facility, combining design engineering with project management. In the process, you will help turn our processes & technologies into standardised, value-engineered products.
What you will do
- Design and deliver projects end to end: Lead the engineering of new farms and equipment, from concept and sales support through detailed design, fabrication, installation and commissioning.
- Manage suppliers and customers: Be the technical point of contact for suppliers, fabricators and customers, and support the commercial side by keeping costs, timelines, quality and scope under control.
- Mature our technology: Work with Production and R&D to take our systems from proven projects to standardised, value-engineered designs that are repeatable and cost-effective.
- Innovate: Contribute new inventions and process improvements that raise efficiency, quality and reliability while lowering cost.
What we are looking for
- A background in Mechanical, Process or Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline with strong engineering fundamentals
- 5 to 15 years of engineering experience, including hands-on involvement in delivering equipment or facility projects from design through to commissioning. Strong candidates with less experience who have led projects end to end will be considered
- Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software, with experience delivering drawings from concept to fabrication details, BOMs, P&IDs, process flows and layouts
- Confident dealing with suppliers and customers, with a good grasp of costing, scheduling and scope
- Familiarity with hygienic design and food safety standards (HACCP, GMP+) is a plus
- Workshop experience (fabrication, machining, assembly) and a food, feed or agricultural background (feed milling, palm oil, poultry) are a big plus
- Startup or new project development experience is a big plus
- Grit, ambition and clear, structured written communication
- Good written and spoken English and fluent Malay. Mandarin is a plus
- Own car and laptop. Travel will be required
